Do I accept that my potential partner/friend is not like me?
Do I apply the same moral standards to them as I do to myself
Do I have the time to do justice to a relationship?
Am I able and willing to be my true self?
Am I able to show vulnerability and reveal my true feelings?
Is there a reason I like this person beyond the fact that they like me?
If the answer to any of the above is negative then perhaps a reconsideration of your attitudes would bear fruit and make for happier times ahead.
